IBM is increasing the number of people it will employ in its knowledge area from 250 to 400, as it expands into new business areas and continues to invest in new technologies.
The hiring of new employees will help the company expand its knowledge network, which is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization’s online knowledge base.
The number of employees will increase from 50 to 70, and it will hire more people in knowledge management roles, said IBM Chief Information Officer Michael Schumacher, in an interview with Bloomberg Television.
The company is increasing its size, and will add 500 people over the next three years to its core business, he said.
The Watson Watson, the first new IBM product in more than 20 years, will be sold to customers through a partnership with the online marketplace Shopify, according to Schumachers company.
The software will help organizations monitor customer behavior and identify problems quickly, according the company.
It also will allow them to provide users with more information on the company’s products, he added.
